Obesity in the U.S.
This research assignment is turning out differently than I imagined. At the beginning I didn't know what to pick, because I couldn't really think of a topic I was "passionate" about. By deciding on something that I've unconsciously considered, I continue to become more fond of my topic and change my subconscious acknowledgements to my own realization that many amazing things could come of the U.S. if we were not amongst the worst nations in obesity.
One of the major factors in obesity is over consumption. Not only would people be increasing their life expectancy by eating less, or only as much as they need, but we would also be able to have a larger surplus of food which could go towards better uses such as the starving foreign and domestic people. We would help our own lives along with the poverty-stricken peoples'. Food prices would also go down with less demand. Americans who give in to naturally over-developed craving for food only rob themselves of their health and opportunities to help those who need it even more. The "joy" some people get eating is far less than what they would feel with fitter bodies and how much the less-fortunate would benefit.
Health is another rising issue with such alarming rates of obesity in the U.S. Heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes are striking our population with higher odds than every before. With so much excess energy and sugar, overweight people have commonly develop high blood pressure which is debilitating to one's heart. The pancreas' ability to manufacture insulin in the body shuts down due to overwhelming amounts of unused fat and various other substances that accompany continued eating of low quality food. This leads to diabetes which accounts for more and more deprived lives every year. The long-lasting effects of obesity easily out weighs the temporary high eating brings to an individual.
Imagine the best country's citizens actually exemplifying the freedom and superiority that courageous men and women continually fought for in the birth of this nation. We would not be stripping ourselves of the potential greatness for a mere few minutes of extreme comfort. We can all do a little better in becoming examples of true patriotism by spending a little more extra thought and become prudent in the way we utilize the resources given us.

It's very true. I wish people could help themselves. Of course, I'm not sure you can really understand the pure desire, even lust, for food, or the absolute depression that comes from your appearance that makes you turn to food just to make you feel better...I don't think you've ever really experienced anything like it. Of course, I am continually surprised with people. Maybe you have. Maybe you really do understand.
Last year I looked forward to my next meal as the only place I could just relax. Almost a sanctuary. I still get as much food as I can when I get school lunches just because it's all good to me. Does that have any credance? My body may be able to handle food a bit better than others, but I think the real difference is my activity compared to so much inactivity... and I'm not even heavily involved any sports etc. My inspiration to resisting some foods is the fact that I don't like chocolate that much and the Chinese Proverb "The soldier who conquers himself is the strongest."
hey, sorry for misjudging you. It's just that I've always seen you turn down food offered to you in the past, so that's what I was basing my theory on. Sorry. I really need to stop judging, among other more righteous reasons, because I am so bad at it. I just don't know if I can ever be that 'strongest soldier'
